The following amendments were passed at Convention in Nashville.

Club funds used to pay insurance premiums - passed  Effective date: October 1, 2009
This will allow clubs to pay insurance premiums out of either the Administrative or Community Service portions of their budget - or to use a combination of funds from both areas.

Amendment 2:
Freezing tiered dues levels in qualifying countries - passed  Effective date: October 1, 2010

This amendment will:

  • provide economic relief for clubs in countries qualifying for a lower dues tier;
  • allow Kiwanis to continue to grow in developing nations during difficult economic times.
Payment Schedule for payment shall be as follows:
  • Countries with per capita income of $10,000 US or more pay $42 US;
  • Countries with per capita income of $5,000 US to $9,999 US pay $27 US;
  • Countries with per capita income of $4,999 or less US shall pay $18 US

Amendment 3:
Common billing date of October 1 for all clubs - passed.  Will be gradually changed over a period of 3 years.

  • Eliminates the confusion of 3 payment dates for clubs: dues, magazine subscriptions & insurance;
  • Provides a timeline, over several years, to gradually move forward club payments that are currently due on March 31 and May 31;
          Findlay's billing date is March 31
  • Saves time and paperwork for club secretaries and treasurers by reducing the amount of time, paperwork and mailings required to update rosters and submit dues;
  • Aligns with future plans for online billing;
  • Improves District's cash flow.

Amendment 4:
Eliminate the magazine exemption for spouses - failed

This would have done away with members' choice of accepting or declining a duplicate copy of the Kiwanis Magazine.

Because it failed, members still retain the choice.
