Welcome to the "official" web site for

Division 1-South
of the
Ohio District of Kiwanis International

Hello again 1-South.

Now that just about everybody has been installed, it's time to jump start this new year.  The first new item to report is that the e-Club of NW Ohio has had two meetings and has officers now.  We hope to be chartered soon!  If any of you know anybody who would be good for this type of club, let Craig Wallace know!

Reminder - there is a division meeting on Tues., October 27, at Kissner's (upstairs) at 524 Clinton St., in Defiance.  We will have a president's meeting starting at 6 pm, with the dinner to begin at 6:30 pm.

Tues., October 27  ~  Kissner's (upstairs)
     524 Clinton St., Defiance
6 pm - President's meeting
6:30 pm - Dinner
Program follows

The speakers will be Craig Wallace, district community service chair, and Bill Snellgrove, district membership growth chair.  As a service project, we also ask that each club bring canned goods to donate to a local food bank.  We will be having a Halloween theme to the meeting and there will be prizes for the top costumes.

The menu for the dinner is salad, rolls, roast beef, Hawaiian ham, green beans, mashed potatoes, chocolate mousse, and a soft drink, set up in buffet style.  There will also be a cash bar available for those wishing to have other drinks.

The cost is $15/member.  Please RSVP to me by this Friday, October 16th, with the number of members attending.

Please send checks payable to Division 1-S to Division Secretary Marlene Hoorman, 22133 Township Rd 60, Jenera OH 45841.

Also, please plan ahead for Tuesday, December 1st.  That will be when our district governor, Don Parker, will be visiting our division.  That meeting will be held in Luckey, who will be celebrating their 50th anniversary!

I hope to see everyone on the 27th!

Our Division Goals:

SERVE OUR COMMUNITY STRONGLY - We will continue to provide our service to the community through our many service projects.  Our members will show up in strong numbers at each of the projects.

MEET WITH A PURPOSE - Each meeting will be beneficial to our members as well as to our community.  Our meetings will be used as a platform to draw our members closer, share with the community and learn along the way.

SHARE AS A FAMILY - We will support our Kiwanis family at the Division, District and International levels.  Also, we will support our K-Kids, Key Club, Circle K and other clubs in our area.  And most important, we will be there for those families that have a member of their family in Kiwanis.

RECOGNIZE THE DESERVING - Throughout the year, we bestow the deserving honors upon our club members which they have duly earned in Kiwanis service.

Inspirational Thought for the Day:
“Young children believe that most everything is possible!
Until someone convinces them otherwise, or until they become jaded through failures or disappointments, the world is a wide-open place filled with delightful possibilities.  They can imagine flowers that talk and spaceships that shrink down small enough to fit under their bed.  Nothing is off limits.
To reconnect with that open sense of possibility is one of the most powerful benefits of heightening your natural gift of curiosity.
Making it a practice to think like this, at least a few times each day, can trigger countless ideas of personal innovation."

(Canterucci, 2005, p.86)
